Women in Immersive Technologies: AR, VR, XR & beyond ♀️

Vanessa Julia Carpenter from Kintsugi Design and Lemke Meijer from Gagarin will talk about Using Bodystorming to Develop embodied VR experiences. Vanessa and Lemke worked together for two years on a VR application to engage youth in learning about the role of the Arctic Ocean in Climate Change and developed techniques and storyboards for an immersive underwater experience which they’ll share in their talk. 

Leeni Laasfeld, Artist at Possimiste, Digital Director at CITISPIRE Studio

Leeni is an audiovisual artist who has been exploring the creative expressions of magic since childhood. Despite never planning a serious career in innovation, fate led her to passionately craft metaverse and MR concepts for leading companies. Be it urban design, education, marketing, or her own art, it is all about bringing out magical qualities in people, places, and things through immersive tech – not far from her childhood dream of becoming a wizard. www.leenilaasfeld.com 

María Guðjohnsen, an Icelandic 3D artist based in NYC. She has exhibited all over the world with work that experiments with different mediums to explore the potentials of reality and virtuality. The artist’s works depict utopian speculations of potential realities, inspired by the future, Sci-fi, and computer graphics.

We will also have demos by Hallbjörg Embla is a UX designer at Arkio, a company that makes a collaborative XR modeling tool for architects, designers and other creatives. She has a background in software engineering and interactive media technology, and is passionate about designing enjoyable virtual experiences. 

A panel debate discussing how to get more women into working in immersive technologies will be moderated by Charlotte Biering, Diversity and Inclusion Specialist at Marel and will feature all speakers.
